Athi River Secondary Tree Regeneration
Initiative Highlights
Tree planting and seedling nurturing at Athi River Secondary School
About This Project
On May 8th, Nurture Kizazi, in partnership with Kenya Forest Service, Adopt A Tree Foundation, and Superior Homes Foundation, conducted a tree planting and mentorship initiative at Athi River Senior Secondary School. The initiative focused on both environmental conservation and student empowerment. The team engaged students in mentorship sessions centered on mental health awareness, encouraging open conversations around emotional well-being and personal growth. Following the mentorship program, students and volunteers participated in a tree planting exercise that included both fruit trees and indigenous tree species. The tree regeneration initiative brought together students, teachers, and volunteers in a collective effort to restore green cover within the school compound while promoting environmental stewardship among the learners. Through hands-on participation in planting and nurturing seedlings, students gained practical knowledge on the importance of conservation and sustainable environmental practices.
